(Re Wednesday, Sept. 7’s front-page story, “County to hold tentative budget hearing Thursday”): Yes, $390 million for a county budget? That is totally ridiculous. I have been here 10 years and cannot see any improvements to this county. Also been trying to have several streets patched in Pine Ridge for months, to no avail. So where does all this money go?

I’m responding to Sound Off (about Thursday, Sept. 8’s front-page story), “Forest Ridge road project begins Monday.” Sorry, totally disagree with you. That road of stretch there, there’s not no potholes. That road is perfectly smooth. There are plenty more bad, bad roads in Citrus County that could have been paved instead of Forest Ridge, that is for sure.

I want to applaud the Chronicle for they finally (published) a cartoon mentioning our open southern border where over 2 million illegals have crossed over, and over 1,000 runaways (Thursday, Sept. 8, Page A8).

You keep putting pictures of candidates running for office. Could you please put in if they’re Democrats, Republicans or independents?

We have angels right here in Citrus County. The HPH Hospice in Lecanto is a blessing that you may never know unless you need it. These people are the most magnificent, wonderful people you could ever meet. We had a close relative spend time at the HPH Hospice in Lecanto to their end and the service and the people at that facility are the most wonderful, caring people that you could ever imagine. They made the last days of my Mom’s life as pleasant and as comfortable and as caring as you could possibly imagine. I want to thank them for everything that they did at HPH Hospice in Lecanto. You people are fantastic.

If a candidate was an automatic winner during the primaries, political signs should not still be posted in the county. Time for someone in the county to get out and write maximum littering fines for signs which are no longer relevant.

Hunter Springs closed due to high volume of fecal matter. Do you know what fecal matter is? Well, now it’s open due to acceptable levels of fecal matter. Not for me. I’m not swimming with any fecal matter, and people and kids (are) accidentally swallowing some.

If you have leftover yarn, donate it to nursing homes or retirement homes (for) residents to crochet. Many do not have money to buy yarn.
